Indigenous language. Enuani Language Class Kick Starts In Asaba.

The determination of the Enuani people to rescue their language is a powerful act of resilience. It moves beyond lamenting loss to active reclamation. It is a fight to ensure that their unique voice, shaped by centuries of history and environment, is not silenced by the homogenizing forces of modernity.

To achieve this, the Enuani Language Class started today, 24th January, 2025 at Jubilee Private School/Academy School, Asaba.

According to the coordinator of “Asụsụ Enuani,” Mr. Anthony Nkete Nwakogo aka Nwaezimmadu, thirty (30) students were in attendance and Teachers were excited at the impressive turn out of children on the first day, signifying their zeal in learning Enuani. Each student also received a free notebook and a pen for the programme.

Mr. Alex Moeteke, President of Issele-Uku Development Union, IDU, Asaba branch visited the students and the teachers to encourage them while Mr. Christopher Ashiedu, the General Manager of Trend FM, Asaba, who has helped to publicize the programme on air and has two of his children as students was at the classroom briefly to observe.

“Asụsụ Enuani” class will continue on Friday and Saturday weekly and will run throughout the year 2026 with the sponsorship of Hon. Engr Nwaobi, Leader of Delta State House of Assembly and the provision of classrooms by Bishop Nuel Ikeakanam.
