Date:

The Anioma Youth Forum Worldwide (AYF-W) has named Major General Raymond Nkemakonam Ochei as its “Anioma Man of the Year”, honouring the top Nigerian Army officer for his remarkable service to the nation and unwavering commitment to the Anioma people.

The award was presented during the Anioma Youth Day/Summit, where the Forum praised Gen. Ochei for “exemplary leadership, philanthropy, and development initiatives that have uplifted Anioma communities.”

Gen. Ochei hails from Onicha-Olona in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State. He joined the Nigerian Army in 1993 as a member of the 40th Regular Combatant Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and has since risen through the ranks to Major General.

A decorated officer, he holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Economics from the NDA, an M.Sc. in Economics from Ambrose Alli University, an MBA from Lead City University, and dual Ph.D. degrees in Forensic Accounting & Audit (Charisma University) and Public Administration (Babcock University).

His dedication to duty has earned him several military honours, including the Forces Service Star (FSS), Meritorious Service Star (MSS), and Distinguished Service Star (DSS).

Away from the parade ground, Gen. Ochei is celebrated for his philanthropy. Together with his wife, Dr. Doris Ochei, he has supported education, cultural promotion, and poverty-alleviation programmes across Anioma land. The couple is known for hosting cultural events and extending a helping hand to the less privileged.

The Anioma Youth Forum’s recognition joins several others the General has received from Anioma organizations over the years, cementing his place as one of the most respected Anioma sons serving the nation.

“Major General Ochei represents the best of Anioma in terms of discipline, service, and love for community,” an AYF-W spokesperson said at the event.

“We honour him not just for his military career but for his consistent efforts to improve the lives of our people.”
