There has been a change of guard at the Confucius Institute, UNILAG as a new Director, Professor Zhao Hongling assumes office. He was seconded to Nigeria from the Beijing Institute of Technology, China.
In the company of the Nigerian Director, Professor Chimdi Maduagwu, the new Chinese Director paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, at his office in the Senate Building today, yesterday
Professor Hongling expressed delight to be at the University of Lagos and promised to improve upon the great work his predecessor, Professor Yongjing Wang, has done at the Institute.
The Vice-Chancellor welcomed Professor Hongling to UNILAG and assured him of his continued support for the Confucius Institute. He took great pride in the very commendable work that graduates of the Institute are doing in the education space, both in the country and overseas, and wished the new Chinese Director a successful time in office.
Professor Hongling is an expert at foreign languages and would serve as Chinese Director of the Confucius Insitute, UNILAG for a renewable tenure of two years. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Liu Hongling.
