The Ogbe-Ofu road project is an example of the power of self help and community development, it shows that communities can take action to solve their own problem and that they can achieve great things when they work together toward a common goal.
Ogbe-Ofu one of the major quarters of Issele Uku, headquarters of Aniocha North LGA recently embarked on a ‘self help’ major road rehabilitation project of their road which has an acces to about 8 communities outside of Issele Uku.
The sons and daughters of Ogbe-Ofu led by Ashiedu Udoka (President General Ogbe-Ofu sons and daughters) with Hon. Emeka Ashiedu and Hon. Chukwunweike Okeleke approached the Executive Chairman Hon. Kelvin Okwechime, who gave them the construction equipment to commence the work, the project has seen clearing and repair of drainage lines, earthworks and excavation.
This project will not be possible without the financial donations and moral support from well meaning sons and daughters of Ogbe-Ofu such as Hon. Paul Nmah, Emeka Ashiedu, Hon. Chukwunweike, Mr Chuks Okonkwo and Udoka Ashiedu, also Dr. Veronica Ufoegbune who is working strongly behind the scenes, this project has received donations from passerby numerous to be mentioned.
The supervision of this project is led by the Diokpa of Ogbe Ofu, Okeleke Chukwunweike, Tony Ogbogwu, Chuks Ebiono, Chibuzor Nwaojie and Chuks Okonkwo.
The community hopes for a speedy completion and further donations from within and outside the Ogbe-Ofu community.
