The dual stars of the Inauguration were not Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, but Ella Emhoff and Amanda Gorman – the new Vice President’s step-daughter and the National Youth Poet Laureate, whose fashion (and words, in the case of Gorman) captivated the world last week.

Now, just over a week after landing in the spotlight, the duo have both been signed by IMG Models – the same agency that represents the likes of Gigi Hadid, Kate Moss and Gisele Bundchen, according to Tatler

Harris’s 21-year-old stepdaughter is the child of her husband, and the nation’s first Second Gentleman, Doug Emhoff, and his first wife Kerstin, who helped the family during the campaign trail and was photographed with her children at the Inauguration on 20 January.

She is an art student at Parsons School in New York, specialising in textiles, and clearly has an interest in fashion. At the Inauguration, she turned heads in her Miu Miu coat and Batsheva dress, while her Instagram shows she is a fan of making her own threads.

Meanwhile 22-year-old Gorman’s recital of her poem, The Hill We Climb, moved the world, making her an instant star.

Her choice of a red satin Prada headband and yellow coat (also Prada) signalled her exquisite taste, and was widely copied, with the headband selling out following her appearance. (Searches for ‘yellow coats’ also surged by 1,328 per cent, too, according to Lyst).

Gigi Hadid, a fellow IMG signing, celebrated the news on her Instagram, writing: ‘Werk @amandasgorman @imgmodels faaaaam! Major.’
