
The former President of Ghana, late Jerry Rawlings will be laid to rest on January 27 after initial postponement, the Ghanaian government has announced in a statement
It will be held at the Independence Square in Accra from 9:00 am to 11:00 am,
Late J. J Rawlings will lie in state for public viewing from 24 to 26 January, at the Foyer of the Accra International Conference Centre from 0900 to 1700 GMT daily.
There will be a funeral mass on January 26 at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra
He died in mid-November at the age of 73 after being admitted to a hospital in Accra.
The funeral was slated for before Christmas but postponed following disagreement among Ghanaian traditional leaders.
Rawlings led Ghana for almost 20 years after staging two military coups as a young officer in 1979 and 1981.
He returned the country to multiparty democracy in 1992.
