A female medical doctor from Ekiti state, Bella Nifemi, has made application to the Ooni of Ife, His Royal Highness, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, to become his wife number eight.
The young beautiful woman’s application to the influencial Monarch came on the heels of the news of Ooni’s on-going marriages to several women. The marriage applicant promised to represent Twitter and the Ekiti community well, if considered as Ooni’s wife.
She said: “This is my submission to be Ooni’s 8th wife. I’m also a Medical Doctor and I will represent Twitter and Ekiti community well.”
The 48 year-old Ife paramount ruler appears to be engaged in a marriage spree in recent times as he is set to take a 7th Wife named Aridunu, which royal wedding is said to have been scheduled for this weekend, Saturday October 29, 2022.
The Ooni had, last month, September, married Mariam Anako and Dr. Elizabeth Akinmuda. He also married
Queen Tobi Phillips, Queen Ashley, Queen Ronke Ademiluyi and.Princess Temitope Adesegun.
While marking his seventh coronation and 48th birthday anniversary, the Ile-Ife king had explained why he married Mariam Anako and the others. The royal father also said he tried to make some changes in his traditional kingdom but couldn’t.
The Ooni probably was referring to his initial resolve to maintain a monogamous status in the palace by remaining married to one queen rather than maintaining a harem and chain of ‘side chicks’ as most monarchs in his traditional status often do.
He stated that, “This institution is bigger than me, beyond me. People in this palace are more than 800, they are close to a thousand. There are some people who have been living in this palace for more than 60 years, while some have lived here for more than 80 years old. Some people are over 100 years old in this palace.
“If I had my way, I tried to challenge it but it blew in my face but thank God I’m still alive. It’s an institution that is rich in heritage, culture, and tradition.”
