
An actress and cosmetologist, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin is currently telling officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in their its Lagos Zonal Command, how she came about several bundles of new naira notes which she sprayed and matched on at a party.
Now, the anti graft agency has commenced the probe on the incident for alleged new naira notes policy violation.
The commission said items recovered from Omoseyin at the point of arrest include a Range Rover and iPhone mobile devices.
Omoseyin, 31, was arrested by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Fraud Related Offences Commission, (ICPC) on February 1, 2023 along Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, following intelligence report.
She was suspected of tampering with the redesigned naira notes, an offence contrary to Section 21 (5) of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Act, 2007.
Her arrest followed a video of her spraying and stepping on the redesigned naira notes at a party, which trended online.
In the viral video, she was als7o seen flaunting wads of the new naira notes.
According to a statement by the EFCC’s Head, Media & Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, “The suspect was subsequently handed over to the EFCC on Thursday, February 2, 2023 for further investigations.”
Uwujaren said she would be charged to court “once investigations have been concluded.”
