The construction of a coconut oil factory has been flagged off in Akwa Ibom State by the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel as part of activities to mark his two years in office.
The governor, who described coconut oil as a most sought-after product globally, said the factory when ready would catapult the state to a global market and boost the industrialisation agenda of the state government.
In a statement made available to our correspondent from the state government, Emmanuel was said to have condemned the rampant attack on contractors by hoodlums in some communities.

He warned that any village that opposed the execution of the coconut factory through attack on the contractors handling the project risked withdrawal of the certificate of the village head/ paramount ruler.

He was quoted as saying that the host communities would be the primary beneficiaries of the factory.
Emmanuel was said to have also inspected a syringe factory being managed by Jubilee Syringe Manufacturing Company.
He said that the factory was a billion naira investment and had the highest capacity for production of syringes in Africa
