The Onicha-Uku in Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State is set to witness a momentous occasion tomorrow, April 8, 2025, as the College of Nursing Science, Federal Medical Centre Asaba, Onicha-Uku, matriculates its second batch of students.
This milestone event marks a significant breakthrough in the community’s educational and healthcare development.
The matriculation ceremony, which commences by 10am, 8th April 2025 will have the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori and the wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori as Special Guests of Honours.

The community expresses her heartfelt appreciation to the State Governor, and the wife, the immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Ndudi Elumelu and the Medical Director of FMC Asaba for their unwavering support in making this historic event a reality.
“On this historic day, the people of Onicha-Uku celebrate the first-ever matriculation of the College of Nursing Science, Federal Medical Centre Asaba, Onicha-Uku. This momentous occasion marks a significant milestone in the educational and healthcare advancement of the community, Aniocha North LGA, and Delta State at large.

Ndudi Godwin Elumelu, Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, whose visionary leadership laid the foundation and saw to the completion of the magnificent edifice that now houses the College of Nursing Science. The College of Nursing Science, Federal Medical Centre Asaba, Onicha-Uku, was established through the efforts of Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, who envisioned a primary healthcare center for the community. The project has since evolved into a full-fledged college, offering a three-year program in Basic Nursing and Basic Midwifery.
This development is expected to boost the healthcare sector in the State and provide opportunities for students to pursue careers in nursing and midwifery.
The event is seen as a testimony of the power of collaboration and community-driven initiatives, marking the dawn of a brighter future for Onicha-Uku, Aniocha North, and Delta State in general.
